Latin American culture is very present throughout the film, starting with the tense sequence beginning in the Dominican Republic until the chase sequence in the Mexican desert.
Vin Diesel had the idea to choose Santo Domingo as one of the locations of Fast and Furious: Even faster. The saga has always done winks to the Wild West and the rugged beauty of the island was perfect for Dom and Letty begin a new life hideout. When recreating landscapes, Justin Lin and his team chose several areas of southern California.
The first sequence is stealing a tanker truckloads of fuel into a road from the Dominican Republic. Letty and Dom lead a team of pilots determined to carry out the robbery. The producers and director spoke with screenwriter Chris Morgan of gasoline supply problems in several countries, which can stay weeks without fuel.
Vin Diesel explains: "Dom has earned the reputation of knowing steal things moving is a modern villain, a current version of thieves errands When we discovered again, not only stealing gasoline to him but to an entire neighborhood.. you must pay an exorbitant price for the supply of fuel. " The heist of the tankers was shot in Templin winding road in the mountains north of Los Angeles.
The coast of San Pedro, south of the city, was the setting for the party following the successful heist, but Letty and Dom almost die in the attempt. Naturally, at the party sexy beauties clothing and light moving among no less beautiful cars involved.
The filming of scenes in Mexico was divided into two parts, Most counties set in Antelope´s Valley, but some atmosphere could not be duplicated and were shot in the village of Magdalena de Kino, Sonora.
